When she hands him the baked goods he stares at them for a moment before muttering a quiet thanks. He doesn't move to eat them just yet though, setting the box beside him on the couch he's seated on.]}

It's not your fault and you know it. [She says, flippantly to try and hide just how irritated she is by the entire event.]

Eat one. I was told they were the best comfort food money can buy. I don't want them going to waste.

<sub>[Objectively it might not be his fault, but that doesn't take away the fact of what happened had happened. It's just happened so many times now, that he's opened his mouth only to regret it. Maybe there really was something inherently wrong with him.

Nodding he reaches for the box, opening the lid only to pluck out one of the treats. He decides on a cupcake, chocolate flavoured and decorated with pink icing that contrasts nicely with the cake's dark color. It even has little silver sugar balls sprinkled atop it.

It's really pretty. So much so it's almost a shame to eat it.

Biting into the dessert, 9S gets some of the icing on the tip of his nose. Not that he cares. It's left ignored for now.]</sub>

Mm...it's really sweet A2. You should try one.

It is a cupcake. [A2 replies, pointing out the obvious. It's not a denial either, because she quickly swipes up a cupcake with rainbow sprinkles and cloud shaped sugar decorations, biting into it herself.]

They could take down the sweetness a little. [It's nice, but it's a little overbearing, in A2's expert opinion. Also because it's not like she's really eaten much to begin with, and sugar is a little rough on her taste processors.]

It is pretty sweet...but I kind of like it that way?

_{[He can definitely see where she's coming from though. Maybe less would be more in this instance, but who knows? Taste is probably a little different to her anyway.]}

Feel free to have more then. They're more for you then me. [She doesn't have the capacity to even have a tooth ache, but it definitely feels like she would be if it was possible.

She does, however, sit down on the couch next to him, propping her feet up on the coffee table, and spreading her arms out on the back of the couch. Honestly, it's a pretty vulnerable position compared to how A2 has been sitting in the past, up and ready to bolt at any moment.]

_{[He finishes off his cupcake with a few more bites, managing to get more icing on the tip of his nose before he's finished. One he has though he's leaning back against the couch, not realizing her arm is behind him. He won't point it out though, but it feels nice to have the company and have A2 seem much more relaxed than usual, at least stance-wise.]}

[It's really hard to get into the mood of actual relaxation. But it does provide a good opening for A2's next move.

Her hand moves forward, pushing 9S's head down and ruffling his hair in an affectionate manner as she stays staring ahead.]

_{[He wasn't expecting the hair ruffle, and although it's a bit of a rough gesture, there's definitely affection behind it. That alone makes him feel warm.]}

Good. [A2 breathes out a soft huffing sound, and she tilts her head towards him after a few moments, hand still on his head, but no longer musing his hair.

Of course he's got icing on his nose, and she stares, contemplating him silently for a few moments.]

_{[The weight of her hand atop his head is welcome as the two of them sit in silence. It's a reassuring feeling, knowing A2 has his back in a way, and while they don't always get along, it'd be wrong to say that they hadn't grown closer to one another since she'd found him that day.]}

You've got icing on your nose, idiot. [She doesn't know why she feels the need to. Really she should be kicking herself for potentially getting in the way of 9S and 2B, and maybe she is, just a little, when she closes the small gap between him to kiss the icing off his nose.

It's just as weird as she thought it'd be.]

_{[He wasn't expecting a kiss to his nose, cheeks flaring a shade of deep pink to rival the icing that was stuck there. He's not sure why she's just done what she did, but he's not complaining. If A2 had wanted to distract him, she'd just gotten his full attention. Without thinking he reaches down to take a bit of icing from another cupcake onto the tip of his finger, only to smear it on his nose again.]}

[A2 stares at him as he wipes more icing on his nose, and raises and eyebrow as she pulls back and barks a laugh that's probably kinder sounding than anything she's managed thus far.]

[There's distance between them, but it's not really a lot at this point.]
